Switching
How to switch from SortSwift: export your inventory and bring it across
Published October 21, 2026
Disclosure: we make Game Store Software. The SortSwift steps come from SortSwift's own documentation, linked and dated; SortSwift notes that its docs are a work in progress, so check the screen in your account. We tested our side with a file in SortSwift's column names.
1. Export your inventory from SortSwift
From SortSwift's Export to CSV article (last updated June 6, 2026, read October 21, 2026):
- Filter your inventory to the items you want, or leave it unfiltered for everything.
- Click Export CSV in the action bar (or Export Selected if you've selected rows).
- In the Export Builder, choose the columns: include Name, Set, Condition, Quantity, Price and Cost.
- Choose the scope (Selected, This Page or All Pages) and click Export CSV to download.
2. Add a category and check conditions
- Add a column called
categoryand fill it withtrading_cardfor singles orsealed_tcgfor sealed product. Without it, rows are read as video games and card conditions are rejected. - Use your store's condition names. A new store's card conditions are NM, LP, MP, HP and DMG, so change "Near Mint" to NM and "Lightly Played" to LP if your export spells them out.
- Leave the rest. Game, Printing, Language and other columns are ignored.
3. Preview, then import
In Game Store Software, open Add your stock from the setup checklist (or the Import stock screen), choose the CSV and press Preview. Each row shows whether it matched the catalog or comes in as your own item, and anything that needs fixing. Then press Import. Each row is saved on its own, so one bad row doesn't stop the rest.

Questions
Does Game Store Software read SortSwift's column names?
Yes for the main ones. Name, Set, Condition, Quantity, Price and Cost are read as they are. Add a category column and use your store's condition names, and the file imports.
Can I keep SortSwift for scanning?
You can, and export from it whenever you restock. Game Store Software scans barcodes and graded-card cert numbers, not card images.
What doesn't come across?
The import brings in stock. Customers, store credit, buylist settings and marketplace listings stay in SortSwift, so export what you need before you cancel.
